This category is designed for apprentice and beginner barbers looking to showcase their skills in front of industry-leading judges and a live audience. This category is split into 2 rounds. You will be given your time slot at check in.
Round 1 Group A 6:00pm – 6:30pm
Round 3 Group B 7:20pm – 7:50pm
Must not hold a Certificate in Barbering or Hairdressing.
Maximum 3 years' experience cutting hair.
Experience level: 0–3 years.
SENIOR OPEN CATEGORY
Australia's best barbers. No limits. No excuses.
The Senior Open category is for experienced barbers ready to compete at the highest level. Create any haircut style or genre and demonstrate your creativity, technical ability and finishing skills.
Round 2 6:40pm – 7:10pm
Minimum 3 years' experience cutting hair.
Open to qualified and experienced barbers.
Any haircut style or genre is permitted.
TEAM RELAY
NEW for EXPO4BARBERS!
Grab your crew and battle as a team.
The Team Relay is a fast-paced competition where three barbers work together on one model, each completing 10 minutes each on the haircut for a total battle time of 30 minutes.
Whether you're representing your barbershop, country, education team or simply your mates, this category is all about teamwork, creativity and pressure performance.
Round 3 8:20pm – 8:50pm
Teams of 3 barbers.
Open experience category (no minimum or maximum experience).
Any haircut style or genre.
Each barber receives 10 minutes on the model.
NEW SCHOOL CATEGORY
Modern. Creative. Innovative.

The New School category celebrates modern barbering, creative styling and contemporary haircuts that showcase precision, originality and execution.

What Do I Need To Bring?

TIP: Please ensure all tools are fully charged before arriving.
Important:
Due to Gold Coast Convention & Exhibition Centre electrical compliance regulations, no personal electrical tools may be plugged into power outlets during the competition.
Can I Enter More Than 1 Category?
Yes, you can compete in more than one category. Just make sure each entry is purchased and your contestant details are provided for each category you're entering. Keep in mind you'll likely need a different model for each category, so plan ahead to avoid a clash on the night.

Every battle station includes:
· Professional hair dryers with attachments
· Shared styling products supplied by our sponsoring brands
Please note: Competitors must only use the Wetline styling products, capes and hairdryers supplied by EXPO4BARBERS during the competition.
Judging
Our judging panel will observe competitors throughout the entire battle.
Once time has expired, judges will have approximately 10 minutes to assess each completed haircut before final scoring.
Competitors are judged across multiple judging criteria, including areas such as technical execution, finishing, styling and overall presentation.
Judging Penalties
To ensure fairness across all competitors:
· Only the official styling products supplied by EXPO4BARBERS may be used. Using any personal styling products will result in a points deduction.Competitors who use unauthorised styling products will receive zero points in the Styling judging criterion.
· Competitors will complete the model within the timeframe. Starting before or after the time will result in point deductions.
Failure to follow competition rules may result in additional penalties or disqualification at the judges' discretion.
